Stay a while and learn about one of the oldest and most fundamental mediums of art. In this course students will learn a variety of techniques and approaches to making relief prints. Students will explore single and multiple block printmaking, following detailed instructions on proper tool care, handling, and maintenance. They will create works, printed by press and by hand. The instructor will also go over distinctions in printmaking, such as non-toxic methods, archival printmaking, and professional presentation of editioned work. Students interested in attending should bring a 9”x12” pad of drawing paper and drawing utensils to their first session. Some supplies will be made available to share by the instructor, but; it is highly recommended each student purchase their own materials from the class supply list to get the most out of the experience.
