The Bridge on Flowers in Shelburne, MA is usually a “feast-for-the-eyes” field trip. the day we were there, an area just beside the bridge was sporting an artichoke in flower.
Although I have a lifelong interest in fiber arts (embroidery, weaving, and knitting), I began colored pencil classes (with Gary Ruuska) followed by watercolor classes (with Mia Mead) at the Sharon Arts Center after I moved to New Hampshire in 2008.
When I see some particularly interesting structure or lovely color in nature or in human creations, I enjoy trying to capture the essence of it. I always hope some of my “look at that” reaction and pleasure in the original site/subject is there in the work for the viewer to experience. Some efforts are more successful than others but the process is always fun, educational, and inspiring.
