CLASSES AND REGISTRATION

To register for any class or workshop, call Creative Ventures Gallery at 603-672-2500. Workshop students must prepay. To pay with Paypal, sign into paypal.com and send the money to creativeventures@comcast.net (please make sure you leave me a note so I know what you are paying for and include phone and email contacts) or we can accept cards by phone. To pay by check, make your check payable to Creative Ventures Gallery and mail it to 411 Nashua Street, Milford, NH 03055. Please note the class name and date, your mailing address, email and phone contacts in your correspondence. As always a personal visit would accomplish everything.

Refund Policy:

Students are expected to pay for classes they attend either in advance or at time of class for walk-ins. No refunds for no-shows. If a class is cancelled by the instructor, the payment will either be refunded or applied toward another class. Neither refunds nor credits will be granted for sessions missed because of events beyond our control. Sessions missed due to illness can be made up the next month. However, if a session is cancelled due to weather, it will be made up at the beginning of the next month.  Teachers who teach multiple classes each week, may allow a student to makeup a missed session at a different day and time.

Additional Policy:

The Creative Ventures classroom is open anytime classes are not scheduled for artists to come in with their supplies to work.  Just check with us before you come. There will be a nominal fee off $5 per visit.

 SUMMER CAMPS

July 16-20, 9am – 12pm – Painting and Drawing from Nature with Kristine Brock (our painting teacher): During this week of camp, they will be creating art inspired by nature.  They will be painting and drawing landscapes, animals, birds, trees and plants. Students will be working in watercolor, acrylics, pencils, ink pens, water soluable pencils. They will be learning about composition, color theory, perspective, shading, lights and shadows, drawing and painting techniques. All students should bring to class a 9 x 12 Mixed Media spiral pad. 

July 23-27, 9am-12pm Animal Art with Tami Sciola-Borelli (our drawing teacher): Animals are fun to draw and paint! This class will teach you how to build upon a few basic shapes, create expression and  personality, and how to add shading and texture to bring your animal art to life!  In this class we’ll work with different types of pencils, pastels, pen and ink and watercolor pencils. Near the end of the week, students will have the opportunity to draw their own pet or favorite animal!   

The cost will be $150 for each session or $30 per day and $125 for an additional sibling or $25 per day. Ages 8+. Call Creative Ventures with questions at 672-2500 or you can register and pay by phone or online with Paypal (directions at top of page).

COURSE DESCRIPTION: I will be using my many years experience in this field and these classes will use a recipe that will enable you to learn a little about everything.  Although a sound foundation is necessary, this method will peak your interest and keep painting a fun thing for you to do.  You will learn as much as you are willing to reach for. We will explore color, perspective and most importantly how to get your vision onto watercolor paper. Our classes will be small to insure hands on time.  All students will be working on different paintings that will also broaden your experience. This class can be ongoing with this instructor and can be joined at any time. Some supplies will be available. Supply list will be provided by instructor. Beginners to intermediate levels.

We will be working from still life and photographs. The fundamentals of drawing will be the focus as we work on perspective, shading, blending, design and composition. Topics will include – pastel application, composition, value, atmospheric perspective, color and more. This class can be ongoing with this instructor and can be joined at any time. Having prior drawing skills is an important place to start. Material list will be provided by the instructor.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Exploration of Mixed Media with an emphasis on markmaking through experimentation with various surface, media and drawing/painting tools. Goal is to build a language through consideration of options, to lend additional depth and meaning to personal work. Develop a more purposeful and conscious understanding of personal markmaking preferences, and learn how to use these for maximal effect in reinforcing authentic self-expression. All materials will be provided, daylong workshop environment promises to be fun and interactive with lots of discoveries to be made.

 

♦♦♦ 3D Sculpture for Children Class – 3 weeks

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Explore different types of clay and feel the difference. Create your own sculpted figure and more. Be introduced to applying wires, nylon, and ribbon to your clay sculptures.  Of course, paint is always a great way to express your imagination. Let’s be abstract artists and have the freedom to create animals never seen before. Ever use natural items like branches, moss, tree bark and pinecones to build a 3D structure? You will in this 3 week class!

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Come and enjoy the art of drawing. We will explore the way of observing objects to draw as well as creative practices.  Try your skills to show depth through shading.  Here’s a chance to apply the values of grey on your drawing. Bring a 9×12 pad of drawing paper to class. Other supplies will be supplied to start.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Have you always wanted to learn to paint or draw? Looking for a refresher course or to hone your skills? This class is for beginning and intermediate students. I will work with students individually on projects of their choice or with those students interested in a more focused and guided level of instruction. The small class size will allow me to give each student personal, individualized instruction. Beginning students will learn fundamentals drawing skills, design and value before beginning to paint. Intermediate level students will work in their medium of choice. We will work from observation, reference photos or copies from master artists. Come explore a range of subject matter such as still life, animals, landscapes and portraits! Mediums of choice include pen and ink, pencil, color pencils, acrylics, water mixable oils, and oils. Please bring all materials to the first class.

Suggested Materials: Optional – Masterson Sta-Wet Palette

For Oil Painters: Winsor Newton (Winton) oils: titanium white, yellow ochre, burnt umber, cadmium yellow medium, phthalo green, ivory black, ultramarine blue, cadmium red light, alizarin red permanent. Online: #44 metal palette knife, Winsor Newton Winton hog bristle oil painting brushes: #4, #10 flat, #2 round, and #6 filbert. Painting medium: 8 ounce bottle of M. Graham walnut oil, Gamsol (solvent) by Gamblin. COURSE DESCRIPTION: We’ll use a variety of drawing media in this class to create artwork in all kinds of subjects including nature, animals, people, and still life!  Using the basic elements of composition, shading, and blending, we’ll work with different subjects and different drawing media including pencil, charcoal, pastel, colored pencil, and pen & ink.  We’ll explore different styles of drawing, too, while working from life, photographs, and imagination!

All levels are welcome and encouraged! Some supplies will be available.  Suggested supplies include a drawing pad at least 9×12 or larger, a few drawing pencils, and an eraser.

♦♦♦ Fun with Dingbatz Zentangle Workshop

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: “Dingbatz” is a Zentangle twist on the term ‘dingbats’, which is a type of scrolled printer’s ornament typically added to cards and stationary. Dingbatz can be used to make bookmarks, borders, or as an ornamental addition to any of your artwork or zentangle inspired artrwork. Or can be simply a means of creating something beautiful in a relaxing and fun way. Beginners and practiced tanglers alike are welcome. Zentangle tiles will be included along with loaner supplies for beginner tanglers. (Supplies will be available for purchase as well.) Experienced tanglers, feel free to bring a journal and your favorite Zentangle supplies.

♦♦♦ Mosaic Garden Pot Workshop – NEW WORKSHOP TEACHER

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: Get ready for spring and learn how to make a mosaic planter for your home or garden. We will be mosaicing a terra cotta garden pot with beautiful tiles and stained glass, a great container for your favorite flowers or herbs! The first step will be to use the thinset mortar as our adhesive to put our materials onto the pot. Step two will be done at your leisure as step one has to dry.I will send you home with step 2 materials and I will end the workshop with a demonstration on how to finish your garden pot. All materials will be supplied by the instructor.

There will be a 1/2 hour lunch break so bring lunch and drinks.
